Exceptional teacher: Patricia Farrell

Ms. Farrell is an awesome teacher who makes learning art fun! Every scholar gets to be an art super star in her room. She's never afraid to get messy, which the scholars love! (Ms. Garnett)

Ms. Farrell is an outstanding art teacher that Howland is very fortunate to have crossed paths with her.  Her preparations for her daily classes along with her dedication to her teaching craft are some of the reasons that the art program at Catalyst Howland has excelled.  Murals, taffy apple sales, field trips, and tons of quality artwork have become a staple of Howland thanks to the exceptional Ms. Farrell!!  She is truly a Rock-Star teacher!!! (Mr. Macias)

I would like to begin by saying that Ms. Patricia Farrell is one of the most dedicated people I have met.  She goes above and beyond to help the scholars at Catalyst Charter School Howland. Ms. Farrell is one of the first teachers to come downstairs in the morning to greet our scholars. As we walk past her on our way to class, she greets them with a smile on her face and tells everyone to have a great day, do their best, or work hard. This is only one of the many ways that Patricia goes above and beyond. Last year, she applied for a grant that allowed us to paint our lunchroom. She and a group of artistic scholars have really helped make the lunchroom a more enjoyable place to eat. Ms. Farrell stayed after school and came early for weeks just to make sure the mural was completed in a timely fashion.

I have also had the pleasure of working with her on an opera, performed by my class. She worked again for months to make sure the set was designed and allowed the students to have complete creative control. Patricia is an excellent facilitator and educator. (Ms. Moise)

Exceptional Instructional Apprentice: Willa Foxx

“Ms. Foxx is a godsend, truly.  Her spirit and strength infuse the classroom with purpose and drive, and her support— both instructionally and personally — has given me strength when I’ve been weak, guidance when I’ve been needed it and help when I’ve been overwhelmed. I know that with her in my corner, I will be the teacher I’m meant to be, and our scholars will strive and soar to new heights”

     Ms. Haynes

“I think Ms. Foxx is a good IA because she helps us get ready for our tests. She allows us to have freedom but not too much, especially when it gets too loud. She respects us the way she wants to be respected and she helps Ms. Haynes as much as she can. This is why I think she’s a good IA.”

“It’s simple: What makes Ms. Foxx a great is her drive to make her scholars better.”

“Ms. Foxx is a fantastic IA because she helps us with our work, teaches us right from wrong and keeps us inline and on-point with school policies. She pushes us to do our best at all times.”
